WELCOME TO THE DEMO OF THE MULTILINGUAL TEXT-TO-SPEECH SYSTEM FROM GERHARD-MERCATOR-UNIVERSITY DUISBURG

DEMO

The system is based on formant synthesis, using the cascade/parallel formant synthesizer designed by Dennis Klatt. The currently active languages are German, American English, and Japanese. You can test the system and listen immediately to the output at your terminal, if your computer has the appropriate audio equipment.

Just follow these steps:
  1. Select one of 3 languages
  2. Select the audio format of your computer's audio equipment
  3. Type an ASCII text in the panel field displayed below (max. 35 characters, the last character must be one of the 4 terminators . ! : ?)
  4. Hit return or press "OK".
The text will be converted into an audio file and sent to your computer. If your system has the appropriate audio equipment, it should be automatically converted into audible speech by mosaic, and you can listen to it.
Enjoy the demo.
